O Come

O Come.

O come and be God to us.

Save us.

From our shortcomings.

From our insecurities.

From ourselves.

Rule over us.

Rule over our personal kingdoms.

Rule over our tiny fiefdoms.

Rule over our relationships from the merely casual to the deeply intimate.

Love us.

When we are unlovable.

When we are unable to love.

To show us what love looks like.

O Come, Immanuel.

O come and be God with us.

Live with us.

With our hopes.

With our failures.

With our pasts.

Talk with us.

About life.

About forgiveness.

About holiness.

Serve with us.

Serve those who look just like us.

Serve those who look different than us.

Serve those who hate us, even if they take our life (can life be taken when it is freely given?)

O Come, and come quickly Lord Jesus.
